Different Areas of Focus

The Puppet and JetPatch technologies provide different areas of focus:

• The focus of Puppet is on the installation and configuration of servers and application components such as web servers, middleware, databases, and more. 
• This makes it popular with developers who want more control over the infrastructure environments that support their applications. 
• Puppet, though, was not designed to effectively manage the ongoing lifecycle and maintenance of agent-based and agentless tools that are typically added to servers to provide back-up, security, monitoring, and other critical services.
• The integration of Puppet with JetPatch supplies this missing piece.
• For enterprises that use other server configuration management tools, such as Chef, a similar approach can be used to integrate JetPatch through its REST API.
