5. How to Configure 3rd Party Application to Automatically Update the Catalog (Windows WSUS)

Prerequisites

The 3rd Party Software Plugin (System Center Updates Publisher) should be installed.
JetPatch catalog is properly defined in the application.
WSUS IPv4 address is static and whitelisted in JetPatch
This automatic tool will skip all expired updates in the catalog (see below)

Find the System Center Updates Publisher application (By default in C:\Program Files\Microsoft\UpdatesPublisher)

Notes:

Please delete Config.txt in C:\Program Files\Microsoft\UpdatesPublisher
Console logs automatically save to a log file in logs directory (by default in C:\Program Files\Microsoft\UpdatesPublisher\logs)
Our recommendation is configure schedule to run JetPatchSCUPTool twice a day (create two daily tasks at different times)

Steps:

Open Task Scheduler: Press the Windows key, type Task Scheduler, press Enter.
Create the task: Click Action, click Create Task.
General tab
- Name: JetPatchSCUPTool
- Check Run with highest privileges.
Triggers tab - click New.
- To run on a schedule, choose On a schedule, set Daily, pick the time, click OK.
- To run at startup, choose At startup, click OK.
- For twice per day, create a second daily task at the second time.
Actions tab
- Click New.
- Action: Start a program.
- Click Browse, select JetPatchSCUPTool.exe, click Open, click OK.
Conditions tab
- Uncheck Start the task only if the computer is on AC power.
Settings tab
- Check Allow task to be run on demand.
- Check Stop the task if it runs longer than, then select 1 hour from the dropdown.
- Check If the running task does not end when requested, force it to stop.
- Leave the other boxes unchecked.
- Click OK.

Test and stop
- In Task Scheduler Library, right click JetPatchSCUPTool, click Run to test.
- To stop it manually, right click the same task, click End.

The cycle value can be set in config.txt file. It include Day and time in the following format:

Sunday 01:00
Monday 02:01
Tuesday 11:00
Wednesday 15:00
Thursday 19:00
Friday 23:00
Saturday 23:59
